CANADIAN HORROR SHORTS!
Programmed by Mitch Davis
7pm / Mon 13 Oct / Noise Bar
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

For those tired of filmmaking that plays it safe, we proudly presents 7 unprotected bursts of radical Canadian transgressive/subversive shorts that will shock the unshockable and haunt memories until the end-times. Visceral and intellectual confrontation is the order of the day. Exploring a range of themes that include outsider sexuality, religion, family, alienation and transfigured perceptions of love and morality, these uncompromising, provocative - and in several cases, award-winning - auteur visions showcase a unique diversity of storytelling styles (animation, experimental, stream-of-consciousness...) and points-of-view that paint a startlingly new picture of the Canadian independent film landscape. This programme was curated for the Winnipeg Cinematheque by Fantasia Film Festival programmer & underground filmmaker Mitch Davis. Includes films from controversial cartoonist Rick Trembles, Rue Morgue Magazine founder Rodrigo Gudino and Davis himself. The closer, GARY’S TOUCH, was the subject of a police investigation after its Ottawa premiere.
